Piano Concert (24th KinderConcert)
November 29, 2015 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
For our 24th KinderConcert we are pleased to have Gráinne Foster, who will play the piano for us!
Gráinne is originally from Dublin and began playing piano at the age of 5. She gained a Licentiate in Piano Teaching from the Royal Irish Academy of Music (2005) and specialised in composition for an M.Phil. in Music and Media Technologies at Trinity College Dublin (2007). She designed and led many experiential music workshops for young children. Gráinne moved to Scotland in 2011 to study music therapy at Queen Margaret University. She now works as a music therapist for the charity Nordoff Robbins Scotland across Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling with children and adults with learning disabilities, autism and mental health issues, as well as teaching piano on a freelance basis. Gráinne both enjoys performing as a jazz pianist and composer for her own Dublin-based experimental jazz ensemble, Electrical Fault, and with various folk, blues, rock and country groups on violin and piano throughout Ireland. She currently performs with several folk and world music groups in Edinburgh and Glasgow, including The Forgotten Works, Secreto Tropical and Latin American Quartet.
