Spring Concert with performing opportunities for children. Conducted by Heather Kennedy
May 28, 2017 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
After our very successful Christmas KinderConcerts with children
performing, on Sunday 28 May we will have our first Spring Concert, with
more performing opportunities.
We will have a few children playing their instruments at the Spring
Concert, and we are delighted to have Heather Kennedy (violin/piano) back,
leading us through the afternoon. Heather is a professional musician and
currently a violin tutor at Erskine Stewart’s Melville School.
We will be celebrating the successes of the children playing their
instruments, and hopefully all join in with singing and/or instruments at
the end of the concert for a tutti of Auld Lang Syne. Adults are
invited to bring their instruments and play along, too.
The children may perform one or two pieces on their instruments. All levels
of playing are welcome. Particularly desirable are pupil-teacher duets. As
we have to limit the number of performers, please let us know as soon
as possible if your
child would like to perform.
Please do invite family and friends along to this performing opportunity
for the children and their families. It will be a very rewarding experience
for everyone involved. We strongly believe that showcasing all the hard
work the children do is a vital part of learning an instrument.
KinderConcerts are designed as a gentle introduction to classical and
traditional music for your child in a friendly environment, giving them a
taster of different instruments. Your child might want to take up an
instrument or a second instrument and would like to see different options
in action, played by professional musicians, or you’d like to broaden your
children’s musical horizon? Then look no further – KinderConcerts is the
place to be!
A typical KinderConcert lasts about one hour: a 30-45 min performance,
followed by a Q&A session with the musician. Afterwards we round off our
KinderConcert experience with tea, coffee, juice, snacks and socializing!
Please do let us know as soon as possible whether you would like to attend
and how many of you there will be – although we have a big space, we’d
still like to make sure we have a small audience and an intimate atmosphere.
Reservation is essential. If you miss out this time, we hope to welcome you
to one of our future KinderConcerts.
